Description
After the gold rush hit Colorado in 1858, prospectors craved a way to carry - and spend! - Their rich finds. Architecturally inspired by the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, Italy, the Denver Mint solved this problem and began mining coins in 1906. The building became a subject of criminal intrigue when, on December 18, 1922, five men hijacked a Federal Reserve Bank delivery truck outside the Mint, igniting one of the most puzzling robbery cases in Colorado history. Enter through the ornate doors of one of the United States most beautiful manufacturing plants.
